Community Engagement Worker
Plymouth Cancer Champions Project
Employer: Zebra Collective
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £32,000
Contract: Until end December 2027 with the possibility of a further 3 year follow on project
The Plymouth Cancer Champions Project is an initiative funded by Macmillan Cancer Support, hosted by Zebra Collective in close collaboration with Age UK Plymouth and the Wolseley Trust Social Prescribing Team.
This project takes a community-based approach to improving cancer outcomes and experiences for people who face the greatest barriers to early diagnosis and treatment — particularly those living in low-income areas, people from minoritised communities, and individuals aged over 50.
We are now seeking a Community Engagement Worker (full time) to join the team, employed by Zebra Collective.
The successful candidate will:
- Meet with community members who are willing to discuss cancer prevention, raise awareness, and help improve the experience of the cancer journey within their communities.
- Work to understand barriers within different population groups regarding cancer, cancer screening, and prevention.
- Organise, promote and support delivery of Cake and Cuppas.
- Have an asset-based approach, recognising and building on community strengths.
- Be confident engaging with diverse communities.
- Demonstrate strong partnership and collaborative working skills.
If you are passionate about reducing health inequalities, we would like to hear from you.
